About the role
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes for Nutrien Financial to ensure timely and accurate financial results.
- Manage general ledger accounting, journal entry review, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.
- Ensure adherence to IFRS and internal accounting policies.
- Lead operational excellence initiatives to strengthen controls, streamline workflows, and enhance reporting accuracy.
- Review the preparation of internal financial statements and management reporting packages and prepare additional ad‑hoc reporting as needed.
- Support external reporting requirements including audit requests, footnote schedules, and supplemental analysis.
- Collaborate with Corporate Accounting and External Reporting teams to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Serve as a key liaison during internal and external audits.
- Lead the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and multi‑year financial plans.
- Analyze business performance, trends, and KPIs to provide insights and decision‑making support to leadership.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to understand operational drivers and financial impacts.
- Develop dashboards, models, and reporting tools to improve financial visibility and accountability.
- Manage monthly management reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and variance commentary.
- Work closely with business leaders to understand results, provide financial guidance, and identify risks and opportunities.
- Deliver clear, concise financial insights to senior management and cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Lead and develop a high‑performing team of accountants and analysts.
- Provide coaching, training, and professional development to support team growth.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Participate in various projects as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting or finance
- CPA preferred
- Minimum eight years of relevant business experience with people leadership
- Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) with a focus on advanced Excel skills
- Strong experience with Power BI is preferred.
