About the role

  • The Level 1 Process Control Engineer is responsible for automation systems, including design, upgrades, programming, and improvements.
  • This role leads projects from selection through final testing and acceptance.
  • Collaborates closely with Maintenance and Operations teams to provide technical expertise.
  • Assists in developing maintenance teams and optimizing operations.
  • Schedule flexibility is required, including working on weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and both scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
  • Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in electrical/electronic engineering degree fields or equivalent experience
  • Two years of experience in industrial process control/automation
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Steel Mill experience- Melting, Casting, Rolling, Coating
  • Project management and commissioning experience
  • Experience with Level 1 control systems (PLCs, HMIs, motor drives, hydraulic controls)
  • Rockwell Automation Suite, Siemens Technologies, TMEIC, and other automation programs
  • Experience with industrial communication networks
