About the role
- The Day Shift Supervisor for the Galvanizing Line is responsible for overseeing all aspects of galvanizing operations, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- This role drives continuous improvement, manages team development, and ensures compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Promote and cultivate a culture of safety and housekeeping across all operations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Plan, organize, and control galvanizing processes to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
- Monitor line performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to maintain continuous flow.
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
- Ensure adherence to all industry-related standards and internal quality requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues and maintain product integrity.
- Manage budgets, monitor consumables, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Optimize energy usage and reduce waste through process improvements.
- Lead, coach, and motivate production teams to achieve departmental goals.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide training for skill development.
- Drive initiatives for process optimization, efficiency, and reliability. Utilize Lean and Six Sigma principles where applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, with at least 3 years in galvanizing or metal coating operations.
- Strong knowledge of galvanizing processes (hot-dip and/or electro-galvanizing).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production management systems.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AISC standards (preferred).
- Ability to interpret structural steel drawings and specifications (preferred).
- Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies (preferred).
- Strong organizational and time management skills (preferred).
