About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Direct clinical engagement efforts and develop and implement medical account strategies for strategic and priority Managed Markets accounts
  • Serve as the primary Medical Affairs point of contact to key payers and provide proactive and reactive clinical and HEOR information
  • Develop and maintain clinical relationships with C-suite individuals, Pharmacy Directors, Medical Directors, healthcare providers, and other key decision makers
  • Manage internal relationships with Market Access, Medical Operations, HEOR, Medical Affairs, Marketing, and Managed Markets teams
  • Provide scientific leadership, product updates, advanced scientific presentations, and formulary presentations
  • Establish medical account strategies and plans through key relationship development and collaboration opportunities
  • Gather customer insights on Novo Nordisk and competitor products to inform medical and commercial decisions
  • Plan and deliver Managed Markets presentations, symposia, and healthcare provider education
  • Support strategic initiatives, team training, mentorship, and sharing of best practices
  • Advise senior leadership on Managed Markets strategy and execution
  • Develop and execute medical account plans for key strategic and priority accounts
  • Facilitate potential pharmacoeconomic and Managed Care-initiated studies and route research grant requests
  • Collaborate on scientific strategies to optimize Novo Nordisk products and development activities
  • Identify, manage, and coordinate medical support needs at key Managed Markets accounts
  • Provide monthly activity reports and manage budgets, OSS records, and Concur expenses
  • Travel overnight 50–75%

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a health-related system, pharmaceutical company, or managed care environment
  • At least 3 years of work experience in a field medical liaison role or managed care setting
  • An advanced degree may be substituted for experience when appropriate
  • PharmD or other doctoral degree (e.g., MD, PhD) with advanced professional licensure (e.g., NP, RPh) required
  • Strong knowledge of clinical development and operations
  • Working knowledge of FDA requirements
  • Strong knowledge of health economics and ability to conduct value-based discussions with key Managed Markets customers
  • Thorough understanding of the formulary process across payer channels
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Advanced understanding of the US healthcare system, payers, reimbursement methods, and integrated health systems
  • Ability to engage business-critical Managed Markets customers and execute in a changing healthcare/payer landscape
  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic influencing, initiative, project management, analytical/problem-solving, relationship development, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility in technical expertise across disease areas preferred
  • Expert technical depth in a disease area and ability to develop expertise across multiple disease areas
  • Knowledge of information/technology systems preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, preferred
  • Work experience in a Managed Markets setting preferred
  • Work experience in health economics and outcomes research preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must maintain a good motor vehicle record and remain below Novo Nordisk’s points threshold
