About the role

  • Develop Instrumentation & Control Design on assigned projects.
  • Complete electrical design for <600Vac/dc circuits for I&C systems (automation systems).
  • Calculate primary and branch circuit loads and size components accurately.
  • Calculate wireway requirements for compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC).
  • Provides engineering support to business development team for bids and proposals.
  • Provides technical direction as needed to other Novate team members.
  • Serves as a point of contact for clients and vendors as needed.
  • Generate documents consistent with all company policies and procedures to deliver superior work.
  • Comply with corporate policies and directives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Hands on experience as an Electrical Engineer in the industrial automation and controls industry. (5-7 years preferred).
  • Solid understanding of common automation components, including: PLCs, PACs, VFDs, I/O Systems, Servo Systems, Process Instruments, Sensors.
  • Thrives under pressure and excels in a fast-paced work environment with a variety of projects.
  • Ability to create accurate professional drawings from concept sketches and shop drawings.
  • Proficient using AutoCAD Suite and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Teams and SharePoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to host/facilitate design reviews with client and team members with clear understanding of the design package.
  • Solid understanding of I&C codes and standards, including the NEC, NFPA 70E, 79, and UL 508/A.
  • Ability to effectively work with diverse personalities.
  • Be team oriented.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel, when necessary for field visits/client meetings, FAT/SATs within the US (typically about 15%, mostly California).
  • Ability to type 35 + WPM.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program. (Preferred).
  • Associate Degree in an Engineering program (minimum) and a combination of in-depth automation industry experience.
  • Valid driver’s license (required).
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) (Preferred but not required). Novate will support application, training and reciprocity.
  • ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP) (Preferred but not required).
