About the role
- Serve as a subject matter expert on employment law compliance, leave administration, and ADA accommodations
- Ensure the organization's HR policies and practices comply with federal, state, and local employment regulations
- Manage employee leave programs, evaluate requests for accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Monitor, interpret, and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC, state-specific leave laws, etc.)
- Conduct regular audits of HR policies, practices, and employee records to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
- Recommend updates to policies and procedures to maintain compliance and alignment with organizational goals
- Serve as an internal consultant to HR Business Partners and Managers on compliance-related matters
- Prepare and deliver compliance training sessions for supervisors
- Administer and coordinate all leave of absence programs, including FMLA, state-specific leaves, military leave, and personal leaves of absence
- Serve as a main point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave requests, documentation, and return-to-work processes
- Track and maintain accurate leave records in accordance with company policy and legal requirements
- Collaborate with payroll and benefits teams to ensure accurate pay and benefits continuation during leaves
- Identify trends or issues in leave administration and propose solutions for process improvement
- Facilitate the interactive process by coordinating communication between the third-party vendor and employees, managers, and health care providers to identify and implement reasonable accommodations in accordance with legal and organizational requirements
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure all ADA-related documentation is compliant and properly stored
- Provide guidance to managers on implementing approved accommodations and monitoring their effectiveness
- Maintain HR compliance data and prepare reports on leave utilization, accommodation trends, and compliance audits
- Support HR leadership with metrics and analysis to identify risks or opportunities for process improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 3 - 5 years Progressive experience in HR compliance, leave administration, or employee relations preferred
- In-depth understanding of Federal and State employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience managing complex leave and accommodation cases
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) preferred.
