About the role
- - Create and evolve visual assets that uphold NorthStar’s brand pillars of compassion, clarity, and scientific integrity.
- - Ensure consistency and accessibility of design across clinical documents, educational materials, digital experiences, and marketing collateral.
- - Collaborate with internal teams to refine and expand visual systems as the program grows.
- - Designing clear, stigma-free, patient-centered clinical materials.
- - Translating complex scientific and medical data into accessible, intuitive graphics.
- - Designing for diverse patient populations (accessibility, readability, trauma-informed communication).
- - Collaborate with our digital team to maintain and enhance our website (WordPress).
- - Support page layout, UI/UX refinements, and content updates.
- - Ensure all web experiences follow best practices in accessibility, performance, and responsive design.
- - Utilize HTML/CSS/JS skills where appropriate to solve interface or layout challenges.
- - Develop compelling, on-brand creative for social media, email, paid campaigns, and employer/payer-facing materials.
- - Support storytelling that reflects NorthStar’s compassion-forward, science-driven voice.
- - Help build libraries of templates, graphics, animations, and campaign assets.
- - Edit short-form videos for marketing, patient education, and internal communications.
- - Create motion graphics, animated explainers, or simple After Effects sequences when appropriate.
- - Collaborate closely with:

Requirements
- - **Expert proficiency** in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite:
- - Illustrator
- - InDesign
- - Photoshop
- - Premiere Pro
- - HTML/CSS
- - Wordpress
- - **Strong pluses:**
- - After Effects
- - Java/JSON/PHP/Python/etc.
- - Experience designing for **clinical or scientific content**, healthcare communications, or data visualization.
- - Experience working within and evolving brand systems.
- - Demonstrated skill in layout design, information hierarchy, and accessible visual communication.
- - Proficiency in **WordPress**, including updating content and supporting layout or theme modifications.
- - Functional understanding of **HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript** (ability to troubleshoot layout issues, customize elements, or collaborate with developers).
- - Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a highly collaborative, mission-driven team.
- - A portfolio demonstrating strong design craft, cross-channel versatility, and thoughtful, human-centered work.
- **Nice-to-Have (But Not Necessary) Experience**
- - Experience in behavioral health, medical design, public health, or patient education
- - Experience with UX/UI tools (Figma, Adobe XD)
- - Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG)
- - Experience designing for vulnerable or stigma-impacted populations
- - Motion graphics
- - Data visualization for clinical outcomes or research
- - Experience with VR environments or immersive media (not required)
