About the role
- Lead the Strike Mission Software Department within the Strike Software Center
- Provide expert guidance to programs to solve technical and process issues throughout the software development lifecycle
- Lead process improvement and technical execution strategies
- Set operating objectives and provide guidance to section managers
- Develop and incorporate measurements to assess health and quality of software across programs
- Assess program health and performance individually and as part of Independent Review Teams (may lead IRTs)
- Collaborate with Program Leaders to quantify staffing demand and execute staffing strategies
- Ensure workforce training and talent development to meet program goals
- Interact with equivalent level managers and programs to maintain performance
- Mentor and provide guidance to engineers and other managers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 9 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master’s degree AND 7 years of related professional/military experience
- Experience leading software teams with at least 10 software engineers
- Experience with software process improvement
- Experience in one or more of the following: Software Architecture, Cloud & Application, Embedded Software, Automated Software Testing, Software Integration with real-time hardware, DevOps
- Active in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance required
- Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR)
- U.S. Citizenship is required for positions with a government clearance
- Experience with incorporating Agile Methodologies (preferred)
- Experience within the Defense and Aerospace Industry (preferred)
- Experience managing Embedded, Cloud, and/or Application development teams (preferred)
- Experience managing staff of 50+ software engineers (preferred)
- Experience recruiting, developing, and managing multiple software disciplines (preferred)
- Experience leading other managers and senior software architects (preferred)
- Leadership experience on multiple programs (preferred)
- Current Program Access (preferred)
- Willingness/ability to travel up to 25% of the time
