Influence design for meeting safety expectations and requirements for products
Analyze and recommend design features that meet safety criteria
Active participation in the design of products/systems and support equipment
Create functional specifications and establish safety requirements
Develop safety documents to support customer and test/operational range requirements
Perform audits of operational areas and reporting on effectiveness of system safety program
Evaluate interrelationship of system safety requirements and other aspects of concept design and development requirements

Requirements

8 years of experience with a Bachelors of Science degree, 6 years with a Masters, 5 years with a Doctorate degree in science, engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, aeronautics, safety, or closely related technical discipline
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application
At least 6 years of using MIL-STD-882E to conduct Hazard Analysis
At least 2 years experience with Safety Assessment Reports
At least 2 years of using DO-178 or DO-254 for design development
At least 2 years experience with C/C++, Java, object oriented design or similar software development experience
