About the role
- Maintain smooth operation of LAN/WAN/VPNs.
- Configure and maintain WMWare NSX to ensure network virtualization and security posture across multiple networks.
- Plan, design, configure, and install network hardware in support of customer requirements.
- Maintain technical expertise in networks and computer hardware/software interconnection: routers, multiplexers, firewalls, switches, gateways, etc.
- Propose solutions to management to ensure communications requirements, configuring solutions to optimize cost savings.
- Create and ensure appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
- Provide regular monitoring and network analysis for short and long-range planning for in-house systems.
- Perform troubleshooting analysis of network infrastructure and associated systems.
- Configure, install, and maintain network devices: routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Implement and troubleshoot LAN technologies: VLANs, Trunking (port tagging), Spanning-Tree, and Port Security.
- Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems; periodically provide after-hours and weekend support.
- Implement and troubleshoot WAN technologies: EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, and telco circuits (T1, T3, OC3).
Requirements
- Principal Level: Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of related experience, or Master's degree and 4 years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent and 10 years of additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.
- Senior Principal Level: Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of related experience, or Master's degree and 5 years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent and 12 years of additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.
- Active DoD Secret level security clearance and the ability to maintain the required clearance; selected candidate may be required to obtain Top Secret DoD security clearance.
- Ability to obtain Special Access Programs (SAP) as determined by program/customer requirements.
- Current CompTIA Security Plus (or higher) certification required within 90 days of employment.
- Current VMware certified Professional – Network Virtualization certification required within 90 days of employment.
- Experience designing and maintaining LAN, WAN, and Cloud based networks.
- Experience with managing routing protocols over Enterprise level environments.
- Experience with configuring, installing, and maintaining network hardware from Cisco and Palo Alto.
- Experience configuring, installing, and maintaining encryption devices (TACLANES) and operating General Dynamic’s GEM One and/or GEM X Enterprise Encryptor Management server.
- Experience implementing security best practices including management of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ICE) and TACACS+.
- Experience operating and maintaining Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM).
- Demonstrated experience with network analysis tools (WireShark, Opnet, SolarWinds, etc.).
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.
