About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform neurology diagnostic tests for patients across neonatal, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and senior age groups
- Set up and disconnect patients according to Neurodiagnostic Society (ASET) standards
- Monitor, record, and document pertinent patient information for physicians
- Select appropriate montages based on provider orders
- Prioritize workloads and respond to STAT studies
- Troubleshoot computers and recognize sleep, spike, seizure activity, and heart rhythms
- Escort patients and communicate information about appointment delays
- Educate patients before, during, and after EEG/EMG procedures
- Clean and sterilize equipment, instruments, and work areas
- Liaise between patients, staff, providers, and management
- Assist with workflows supporting patient safety
- Review patient histories, medications, and questionnaires
- Create and maintain log books and prepare chart reviews
- Prepare and maintain clinical and office supplies and treatment equipment
- Assist with accreditations and inspections
- Report safety incidents, attend safety training, and maintain a safe work environment
- Comply with applicable regulations, statutes, company policies, mandatory modules, and job-specific training requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required
- BLS (American Heart Association) required upon hire
- Experience operating office equipment, including phones, fax, copier, and scanner
- Minimum two years of experience in Neurodiagnostic and Sleep listed as preferred
- Completion of an accredited Electroneurodiagnostic technology training program or equivalent formal training preferred
- Completion of a Polysomnography program or one year of EEG or respiratory therapy experience preferred for Sleep Technologist duties
- Completion of an Electroneurodiagnostic program or one-year CAAHEP-accredited END program preferred for diagnostic EEG duties
- ABRET registration or board eligibility preferred
- Sleep technology registration or acceptance to sit for NBRC or BRPT registry examination preferred
- Familiarity with evoked potentials, ambulatory EEG, invasive epilepsy monitoring, hospital settings, sleep studies, PAP/Oxygen titrations, scoring, sleep staging, and HST preferred
- Understanding of computers and competence using basic software programs
- Ability to maintain current required certifications and complete mandatory training
