About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform technical, clerical, and distributive pharmacy functions under the direction of a licensed pharmacist
- Perform prescription order entry and basic calculations accurately
- Fill orders, conduct data entry, answer phones, prepare labels, assist at point of sale, and process Cardinal orders
- Communicate with patient care units to support efficient medication discharge delivery
- Compound and repackage medications according to USP 795 and applicable regulations
- Communicate prescription status updates to patients and submit refill or prior authorization requests
- Train and assist new pharmacy staff, Pharmacy Technician 2 employees, and trainees
- Delegate tasks and provide direction on essential patient-care functions
- Process, receive, distribute, audit, and track wholesale and pharmacy inventory orders
- Collaborate with pharmacy leadership and staff on quality improvement projects
- Maintain downtime procedures, support the over-the-counter section, and participate in assigned projects
- Comply with applicable regulations, policies, safety procedures, mandatory training, and incident reporting requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required
- Arizona State Board of Pharmacy Pharmacy Technician License required
- Certified Pharmacy Technician certification
- 2 years of pharmacy technician experience required
- Understanding of computers and competence using computers and basic software programs
- Ability to perform pharmacy technology tasks using electronic health records, automated dispensing machines, and unit dosing
- Ability to perform basic calculations and prescription order entry accurately
- Must keep required certifications and licenses current and valid
- Must complete mandatory company modules and job-specific training
- Call required
- Must be able to work on site; telecommute is not available
