About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise business office functions involving billing and follow-up of technical and professional charges generated by outpatient hospital-based specialty departments
  • Act as liaison to hospital specialty departments
  • Evaluate, suggest, and recommend policies and procedures
  • Oversee training, business office operations, fiscal accountability, staffing, personnel management, and staff development
  • Assure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Facilitate communications and provide effective leadership within the department
  • Coordinate with and assist the management team for Patient Financial Services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A.A. or high school degree with equivalent in education/experience
  • Four years of hospital or physician billing and follow-up experience required
  • Minimum of one year of Medicare and/or Medi-Cal experience required
  • At least one year in a leadership role required
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to quickly master computerized claims processing programs
  • Ability to access websites for regulatory information
  • Ability to understand payor contracts, Medicare and/or Medi-Cal regulations, Knox-Keene regulations, and managed care concepts and terminology
  • Knowledge of personal computers, spreadsheet programs, and word processing programs
  • Ability to lead and motivate specialty billing unit staff
  • Knowledge of government billing regulations, fee schedules, correct coding edits, charge master file maintenance, CPT-4/HCPCS, pass-through codes, pricing, medical terminology, hospital/clinic and professional fee billing, ICD-10, Revenue Codes, UB92, HCFA 1500 Forms, Coordination of Benefits Rules, Knox-Keene regulations, managed care terminology, and business math
  • Must have a private, distraction-free home work area for HIPAA reasons
  • Must have high-speed internet and at least 125 Mbps download speed, or be willing to upgrade upon an offer
  • Must be available to work 7am–5pm PST
