HSE Manager
Norsk HydroHSE Manager designing and executing comprehensive safety programs at Hydro aluminium extrusion plant. Ensuring compliance and fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement plant-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures, ensuring clear communication and understanding across all levels of staff
- Notify management promptly of any significant safety concerns and collaborate on effective solutions
- Ensure management conducts thorough accident investigations and prepares accurate reports for serious incidents
- Assist in managing and maintaining environmental records, ensuring compliance with permits, operating conditions, sampling, and regulatory standards
- Keep the plant’s incident management system updated with accurate and current information
- Maintain safety records, including training logs, evacuation plans, and documentation of accidents and incidents
- Identify hazardous conditions and actively contribute to their resolution
- Conduct and manage risk assessments as needed
- Perform regular environmental health and safety inspections
- Support department managers and supervisors in implementing corrective actions for safety and environmental concerns
- Develop and deliver company-wide training programs in line with occupational health and safety laws, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and internal standards
- Co-chair Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and oversee the safe return-to-work program
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management, Environmental Sciences, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental management in an industrial environment
- CRSP certification is an asset
- Practical knowledge of Canadian occupational safety legislation as well as environmental regulations and reporting
- Familiarity with Canadian occupational safety and environmental regulations, including record-keeping requirements
- Strong expertise in managing CNESST cases
- Proficiency in computer software, including MS Office, Excel, Word, and Access
- Experience with Behavioral-Based Safety programs, Lean/Continuous Improvement/Six Sigma training/certification, and 5S training/certification is an asset
