About the role
- Support the drafting, design, and engineering teams by assisting with project documentation, CAD modeling, process improvement initiatives, and hands‑on problem‑solving within a manufacturing environment.
- Assist with 2D and 3D CAD modeling, updating drawings, and revising part files.
- Support engineers and designers with technical documentation, prints, and engineering change updates.
- Help analyze production issues by gathering data, observing processes, and participating in troubleshooting.
- Contribute to process improvement projects, including time studies, layout updates, and workflow optimization.
- Participate in team meetings and provide input on project status, ideas, and technical observations.
- Maintain documentation accuracy while following Hydro standards, safety protocols, and quality expectations.
- Assist with small design tasks, fixture design, basic calculations, or redlining as directed by engineering staff.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Completed at least one year of engineering coursework.
- Basic proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks (or plant‑specific software the team uses).
- Familiarity with manufacturing environments or previous internship/co‑op experience.
- Understanding of basic engineering principles such as tolerancing, material properties, and design intent.
