About the role

  • Lead the safe, on-time, and on-budget development and execution of capital projects.
  • Provide electrical engineering and design from concept through hand-off using the established PESHA process.
  • Manage contractors to ensure safe and productive execution of work.
  • Collaborate with internal/external engineering resources, equipment suppliers, and construction contractors.
  • Perform engineering tasks including problem-solving, design calculations, equipment selection, proposal reviews, and drawing management.
  • Ensure proper operation and safety of equipment and processes.
  • Recommend and implement changes to improve manufacturing value and system performance.
  • Ensure processes are capable, controlled, and meet delivery and cost targets.
  • Be present on the shop floor as needed, including accessing equipment via ladders or high reaches to evaluate progress and troubleshoot issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment as an electrical engineer, with a strong background in capital project lifecycle.
  • Proven success in electrical power and controls engineering, including equipment specification, installation, and hand-off to operations.
  • Experience installing mill-grade equipment.
  • Design or supervisory design experience in electrical systems, primarily 480VAC.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (Rockwell preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in combustion, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems (preferred).
  • Background in extrusion, casting, and fabrication operations (preferred).
  • Familiarity with electrical control systems, including motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and industrial automation (preferred).
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, and other relevant electrical safety standards (preferred).
