About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide a safe and well-maintained store environment for Nordstrom customers and employees
- Support the Area Facility Manager in ensuring stores are ready for business daily
- Maintain HVAC, vertical transportation, entries and signs, and building systems
- Respond to daily break-fix and on-demand requests, advanced troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance work orders
- Perform planned monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual preventive maintenance on critical and non-critical equipment
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to store operations
- Operate and monitor building controls, building systems, and associated equipment
- Troubleshoot EMCS alarms and verify proper building operation
- Conduct equipment and building rounds and readings
- Identify, mitigate, and report building-system and equipment impairments and breakdowns
- Load, unload, lift, and move materials
- Order parts, create PO numbers, manage vendors, and attend job/project meetings
- Follow safety procedures, including LOTO, PPE, ergonomics, working at heights, and machine guarding
- Represent facilities in store, vendor, and project meetings and document outcomes
- Complete preventive-maintenance routines and work orders with required documentation and on-time compliance
- Respond to location emergencies
- Update the CMMS and maintain accurate equipment historical records
- Maintain parts inventory and order items as necessary
- Coordinate with outside contractors, vendors, property managers, and landlords
- Comply with applicable codes, regulations, governmental-agency requirements, company directives, and work-safety standards
- Support multiple Nordstrom Rack locations within a business node
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED
- Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college preferred
- 5-7 years of experience of hands-on facilities with an emphasis in mechanical maintenance
- 5+ years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures
- 5+ years of working experience involving HVAC and refrigeration, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical skills to perform facilities and equipment repairs
- Able to troubleshoot basic input and output functions
- Low voltage signal tracing and troubleshooting of logical devices
- Able to work without supervision and appropriately meet multiple deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with all organizational levels, including written and verbal skills
- Strong dedication to supporting facility by working in a safe, customer focused manner
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work safely and efficiently with minimal supervision
- Ability to utilize all Microsoft Office programs and applications at an intermediate level
- Previous experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ordering system (Coupa)
- Experience with electromechanical operation and maintenance
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule: days, evenings, weekends, and off-hours may be required
- Physical ability to stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more, with or without reasonable accommodation
