About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and lead Nordstrom Beauty’s education function from the ground up
  • Define the education vision and curriculum architecture across onboarding, ongoing education, and certification
  • Hire and lead an initial team of 2 FTE, establishing roles, priorities, and operating rhythms
  • Build reinforcement mechanisms including certification, coaching loops, and field feedback systems
  • Establish service and selling standards and integrate them into education programs
  • Spend meaningful time in-store to pressure-test curriculum and partner with field leadership to close execution gaps
  • Lead the transition from vendor-led to Nordstrom-owned education
  • Ensure consistent, brand-agnostic education capability across locations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in education, learning & development, or capability building
  • Demonstrated success building programs from scratch
  • Proven track record connecting education to commercial outcomes such as sales productivity, conversion, and service attachment
  • Experience in store operations or customer-facing retail environments
  • Credibility with field teams
  • Strong team-building and people leadership skills
  • Experience hiring and developing high-performing teams
  • Hands-on builder mentality
