About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supports the administration and operational execution of Nordstrom’s Time Away and Leave of Absence programs
  • Manages a dedicated HR inbox, serving as a responsive and knowledgeable resource for HRBPs on leave and time away questions, processes, and escalations
  • Serves as a resource for standard questions from internal partners and vendors, escalating and/or managing complex issues as appropriate
  • Contributes to leave and time away modernization initiatives, supporting workstreams related to policy updates, program design research, benchmarking, and process improvements
  • Partners closely with Nordstrom’s internal Accommodations teams to support aligned handling of leave and accommodation intersections
  • Assists in maintaining policy governance by drafting and updating time away and leave-related job aids, FAQs, and employee-facing materials
  • Applies working knowledge of laws such as FMLA, USERRA, ADA, and state paid leave requirements to support compliant and accurate program execution
  • Runs standard reports and assists with analysis on utilization, eligibility, and employee impact to support team discussions and decision-making
  • Supports vendor coordination tasks including data entry, process tracking, reporting, and issue logging
  • Contributes to training materials, education content, and communications to improve leader and employee understanding of programs
  • Identifies opportunities to improve processes and reduce manual effort within defined scope
  • Supports the maintenance of program documentation to ensure operational practices accurately reflect plan rules and approved policies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of experience supporting Leave of Absence and/or Time Away programs
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local leave laws (FMLA, USERRA, ADA, state paid leave programs)
  • Basic understanding of ERISA, HIPAA, and IRS/DOL requirements impacting employee benefit plans
  • Experience or exposure to working with third-party leave and disability administrators
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain program details clearly to employees and partners
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive employee information
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with Workday preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or Benefits certification preferred.
