About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and operate services and user interfaces central to Nordstrom's product data ecosystem.
Work across the entire stack — from React-based internal tools to Java microservices.
Own microservices that power catalog management, hierarchical classification, and organizational master data.
Create React-based applications for managing catalogs and governance.
Build validation, canonicalization, and entity resolution capabilities for data consistency.
Participate in on-call rotations and drive operational excellence through runbooks and alerting.
Contribute to architecture decisions and mentor engineers on the team.

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of professional software engineering experience , including significant delivery of both backend services and frontend applications.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering, Data Engineering.
Strong verbal, written and diagramming communication skills.
Proficient in more than one Programming Language.
Strong backend fundamentals. Comfortable designing and building microservices in Java or Kotlin.
Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Temporal is a strong plus.
Modern frontend skills. Experience in production React applications with TypeScript.
Familiarity with containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes) and defining infrastructure as code with Terraform.
Understanding of distributed systems and tradeoffs of eventual consistency.
Ownership mentality and collaborative mindset.
