About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- The Environmental Health & Safety Engineer II is responsible for the safety and security of East Providence, RI & Norwich, CT facilities and their employees.
- Develop, coordinate, and administer Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, and oversee security at both locations.
- Build positive, collaborative relationships at all levels in multiple manufacturing facilities.
- Champion a zero-injury culture through visible leadership and employee engagement.
- Lead safety initiatives, behavioral safety programs, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Conduct regular Gemba walks, safety audits, and risk assessments.
- Facilitate safety committees and drive safety observation programs.
- Lead incident and near-miss reporting.
- Perform root cause analysis on incidents and injuries to determine specific actions needed to prevent their reoccurrence.
- Collaborate with appropriate department managers to maintain the contractor management and visitor security/safety program.
- Coach/mentor and supervise employees on safe work practices, hazard identification, and risk management.
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or other Engineering degree, or equivalent experience
- 5 or more years' experience in HSS compliance in Industrial Manufacturing or Chemical environment is preferred.
- Experience with OSHA record keeping guidelines and administration.
