About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assemble structural and mechanical components of wind turbines, including nacelles, hubs, and drive trains
- Use hand tools, power tools, overhead cranes, torque tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, and measuring instruments
- Follow detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, mechanical blueprints, and technical documentation
- Perform torquing, alignment, and fit-up of gearboxes, bearings, shafts, and other large components
- Conduct safety inspections and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Complete production tasks within designated timeframes and exceed production benchmarks
- Lift, position, and remove materials from the work area
- Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to improve assembly processes
- Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support other production areas and assist electrical assembly operators as assigned
- Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot potential production problems with PQA and Engineering
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED required
- Mechanical certifications or technical training
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical assembly or heavy manufacturing
- Ability to read work instructions
- Experience in wind turbine, automotive, or industrial equipment assembly
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience
- Commitment to safety and quality standards
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints and technical documentation
- Experience with overhead crane operation
- Ability to achieve and maintain required crane operator certification
- Ability to pass a respiratory fit test as required
- Working at heights
- Understanding of ISO 9000:2000 Quality System is a plus
- Fluency in spoken and understood English required for safety and job-related communication
- Proper use of safety equipment, including eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats
- Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted
