About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assemble mechanical components of wind turbines using hand tools, power tools, and overhead cranes
- Follow detailed work instructions and engineering drawings to ensure accurate builds
- Perform torquing, alignment, and fit-up of gearboxes, bearings, shafts, and other large components
- Conduct safety inspections and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Complete assigned production tasks within designated timeframes and production benchmarks
- Lift, position, and remove materials from the work area as needed
- Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to improve assembly processes
- Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support other production areas as assigned by the supervisor
- Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot potential production problems in coordination with PQA and Engineering
- Assist electrical assembly operators as required
- Promote compliance with safety regulations and company policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED required
- Mechanical certifications or technical training
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical assembly or heavy manufacturing
- Ability to read work instructions
- Experience in wind turbine, automotive, or industrial equipment assembly
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience
- Commitment to safety and quality standards
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic and dedication to completing tasks
- Responsible and accountable for actions and decisions
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints and technical documentation
- Experience with overhead crane operation
- Ability to achieve and maintain required crane operator certification
- Must be able to pass a respiratory fit test as required
- Ability to work at heights
- Understanding of ISO 9000:2000 Quality System is a plus
- Strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures
- Ability to comply with safety regulations and company policies
- Ability to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards
- Proper use of safety equipment, including eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats
- Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management
- Fluency in spoken and understood English required for safety and job-related communication
