About the role
- Classroom teaching responsibilities (80%)
- Establish classroom environments that are creative, focused, engaging, and which embody IB philosophy and the mission statement of the school.
- Use flexible teaching methodologies that engage students with diverse learning styles.
- Lead by example, demonstrate the IB learner profile in action, and guide students toward becoming open-minded, compassionate, thoughtful learners with a global perspective.
- Assess and respond to student abilities and progress, adapting their approach with different teaching styles.
- Undertake lesson preparation, set/mark examinations, write student reports, and develop assessments aligned to the IB requirements and the school calendar.
- Effective use of the learning management system. Set and mark students’ work accurately and promptly, giving guidance and work according to their needs, supporting their development and progression.
- Provide regular and supportive feedback to students and parents.
- Support students' personal development and wellbeing and seek support from the School Counsellor and Programme Heads where welfare concerns are identified.
- Team responsibilities (15%)
- Work collaboratively with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, unit planning, assessment development, and improvement programs.
- Openly exchange ideas, expertise, resources, and tools with colleagues and within the subject areas to improve teaching within the school.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the appropriate curricula and current teaching trends, digital tools, and developments.
- School-wide responsibilities (5%)
- Be an academic and pastoral mentor to a group of students.
- Foster and promote a sense of pride and positive community spirit among staff and students.
- Undertake cover lessons when required. Assist with marking and evaluating placement exams when necessary.
Requirements
- Right to work in Italy (EU passport or valid Italian work VISA)
- A relevant bachelor’s degree and teacher qualification (eg: History, or another related field from an accredited, state-approved programme)
- Immaculate police check(s)
- A minimum of two years of recent and relevant experience in a comparable school environment
- Relevant teaching experience within the subject area(s), preferably in an IB school (MYP and/or DP)
- Proven ability to plan and deliver innovative inquiry-based lessons that engage students and address their diverse learning needs
- Demonstrated ability to use digital tools and resources effectively to enhance learning
- Planning and organisational skills
- Fluent English: reading, speaking, writing (Common European Framework of Reference - CEFR level C1-C2)
