About the role

  • Partner with the CEO and CMO to define a multi-year, insight-led innovation pipeline (skincare + devices) aligned to brand strategy and business goals.
  • Translate consumer insights, science, and feasibility into a prioritized roadmap with clear stage-gates, budgets, and success metrics.
  • Own concept → brief → prototype → validation → commercialization for new products (skincare and, where applicable, beauty devices).
  • Develop comprehensive product briefs: target consumer, benefits/claims, ingredient/tech direction, packaging, quality standards, target COGS, MSRP, and margin.
  • Source, negotiate, and manage external partners (formulators, OEM/ODM, device engineers, packaging vendors).
  • Oversee testing (stability/safety/compatibility), regulatory and compliance (including IEC/FDA considerations for devices), and QA sign-off.
  • Deliver launches on-time and on-budget; manage risks and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Proactively assess existing products for performance, quality, consumer feedback, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes.
  • Lead reformulations and quality improvements to maintain or elevate efficacy, safety, and sensory experience.
  • Drive COGS/margin optimization (ingredient substitutions, process improvements, packaging efficiencies) without compromising quality.
  • Refresh claims, copy, and packaging as needed to maintain competitiveness and clarity; manage label/INCI/regulatory updates.
  • Partner with Marketing on data-driven optimizations (e.g., claims hierarchy, RTBs, clinicals) and with Operations on supply continuity and cost.
  • Recommend SKU rationalization/EOL when appropriate, with clear consumer and financial rationale.
  • Work with Operations on manufacturability, readiness, and supplier risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Creative on positioning, claims hierarchy, copy, and launch assets for DTC and retail channels (e.g., Amazon, Target).
  • Partner with Finance on cost modeling, pricing architecture, and unit-economics trade-offs.
  • Maintain strong relationships with R&D, QA/Regulatory, and Packaging for best-in-class execution.
  • Track post-launch KPIs (velocity, repeat, margin, review volume/rating, defect/return rate) and drive iterative improvements.
  • Monitor trends in ingredients, device technology, sustainability, and regulation; bring forward executable, high-ROI bets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Product Design, or related field (Master’s a plus).
  • 5–8 years in beauty/skincare product development with multiple end-to-end launches owned.
  • Demonstrated experience managing labs/OEMs, packaging vendors, and cross-functional partners (Marketing, Ops, Finance, etc.).
  • Strong technical understanding of formulation principles and/or device program requirements; fluency in QA/regulatory fundamentals.
  • Data-driven decision-making; excellent brief writing, vendor communications, and project management across concurrent timelines.
  • Entrepreneurial, hands-on, and comfortable with speed and ambiguity.
  • Hands-on beauty device experience (hardware + consumables ecosystem).
  • Anti-aging expertise and familiarity with claim-substantiation pathways (consumer use tests, instrumental/clinical).
  • Experience across DTC and retail (Amazon/big-box/specialty).
  • Sustainable packaging or clean-formulation experience.
  • Financial literacy (COGS/MSRP/margin modeling).
Benefits
  • Base Salary: Up to $150,000 USD (dependent on experience, device exposure, and location).
  • Bonus: Tied to launch delivery and KPI outcomes.
  • Equity: meaningful ownership opportunity in a high-growth brand.
  • Comprehensive health/vision/dental benefits; 401(k); PTO; hybrid flexibility.
