About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform manual labor and maintenance tasks needed to maintain, improve, or construct facilities and areas
Perform preventative and ongoing maintenance on physical structures and commercial or industrial facilities
Clean work areas, tools, and equipment
Assist with repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical or mechanical equipment
Provide craft personnel with materials, tools, and supplies
Disassemble, transport, assemble, and install equipment or furnishings
Assemble, install, and repair ergo desks
Assist with clearing clogged drains and replacing plumbing fixtures
Remove snow, landscape materials, and other materials
Paint areas or equipment to prevent corrosion
Perform minor repairs or replacements of interior walls, ceilings, and building trim
Move or deliver items and materials to various locations
Pick up and transport trash and waste to disposal areas
Transport small equipment or tools between areas
Attend daily safety toolbox meetings
Complete job safety evaluations for each job
Notify the supervisor when safety and sanitation standards are not being met
Perform other duties assigned for departmental or unit success
Work without supervisory responsibilities in a remote camp setting

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Must pass pre-employment contract requirements, which may include a drug test, physical and fit for duty assessment, and hearing test
Ability to cooperate and work as part of a team with employees, customers, and clients
Ability to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision
Ability to remain on feet for 12 hours per shift during the scheduled rotation
Ability to live in dormitory-style settings and meet remote camp cleanliness requirements
Must speak, understand, read, and write English
Must meet and adhere to company and client safety guidelines and regulations
Must be a local hire residing within one hour of Tok, Alaska
Ability to travel by plane and/or bus to remote camps
Ability to lift 50 lbs. from floor to knuckle
Ability to lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist
Ability to lift 30 lbs. from floor to shoulders
Ability to carry 40 lbs. with two hands for at least 30 feet
Ability to perform continuous stooping, twisting, squatting, stair-climbing, ladder-climbing, and shoveling tests
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in arctic conditions, with moderate to loud noise and occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals
