About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise café and restaurant employees at the Qavartarvik Customer Lodge
  • Oversee preparation and serving of food items
  • Inspect serving and dining areas, utensils, and equipment for cleanliness
  • Train assigned workers under the direct supervision of the Restaurant Manager
  • Coordinate work to promote efficient operations
  • Maintain HACCP records and high stock levels of resale merchandise
  • Monitor associate files and uniform standards
  • Handle guest problems and complaints
  • Post retail signage and keep menu boards current
  • Maintain POS item rosters and accurate pricing information
  • Assist the Restaurant Manager with reports and product-movement tracking
  • Perform serving, cleanup, cashiering, dishwashing, food preparation, cooking, catering-tray assembly, and grab-and-go production
  • Monitor and serve food-service lines during high customer traffic
  • Complete food orders and items
  • Support an effective safety program and compliance with applicable regulations
  • Complete inspection checklists and ensure supplies are available
  • Maintain sanitation standards and continuously improve service quality

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school graduation or GED equivalent
  • At least two years of demonstrated supervisory experience supervising five or more people
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • ServSafe certification within 60 days of employment
  • Flu shot required before hire and annually thereafter
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for the past three years
  • Ability to perform rotational work in Bethel, Alaska
  • Ability to stand constantly, walk frequently, and occasionally lift, pull, and push
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Preferred: appropriate national culinary certification(s)
  • Preferred: familiarity with food safety policies and procedures, including HACCP forms
  • Preferred: varied and responsible café/restaurant supervisor experience
