About the role
- We are looking for a medical advisor to handle the medico-legal management of work accident and occupational disease medical files.
- You will be responsible for monitoring absences due to work accidents and occupational diseases and for providing medico-legal consultations to the statutory insurer and the various legal departments of the Belgian Railways.
- You will perform consolidation assessments to determine a percentage of permanent disability following a work accident, including review and aggravation investigations.
- You will also defend the company’s interests in legal proceedings relating to bodily injuries and occupational diseases of statutory staff.
- You will play an active role in the multidisciplinary approach to return-to-work following a work accident.
- You will also serve as the Belgian Railways' medical advisor in cases of accidents involving passengers or victims of traffic accidents involving vehicles.
- This position does not involve on-call duty or weekend work.
- You will receive structured support from day one, as well as ongoing guidance to support your professional development.

Requirements
- Qualification: You hold a medical degree authorizing you to practice medicine in Belgium and possess an INAMI number.
- A prompt start is desirable (subject to any notice period you may have).
- Experience with the application of legislation on work accidents and occupational diseases.
- Possession of a specialization in insurance medicine and bodily injury assessment, or accreditation as a judicial expert.
- You are solution-oriented and use information from multiple sources to reach coherent conclusions.
- You communicate openly and with understanding.
- You correctly identify problematic issues, open the discussion, and reach agreement with the parties involved.
- When you make decisions, you rely on existing evidence-based guidelines, sound logic, and well-reasoned arguments.
- You work constructively with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- You are flexible and committed, acting with consideration and respect for the company’s culture, objectives, and values.
