About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, including conceptual design, engineering planning, detailed design, and construction handoff
  • Manage external engineering firms to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
  • Drive the development and review of engineering deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and design packages
  • Conduct constructability reviews and support smooth transition to construction teams
  • Partner closely with Project Managers and Project Controls teams to manage project schedules and budgets
  • Develop and support capital engineering execution plans aligned to financial targets
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Monitor engineering performance, risks, and progress using project management tools and systems
  • Apply industry standards and engineering best practices to define project scope and ensure design integrity
  • Identify risks early and incorporate mitigation strategies into engineering deliverables
  • Drive continuous improvement, design optimization, and cost-effective engineering solutions
  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior engineers and project team members
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support training and knowledge-sharing across the organization.
  • Build strong partnerships across Engineering, Construction, Operations, and Finance.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (ABET-accredited)
  • 7–9 years of experience in electric utility engineering or operations
  • 1–3 years of experience leading teams, contractors, or projects
  • Strong knowledge of utility infrastructure, engineering design, and construction practices
  • Experience with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost management
  • Familiarity with industry codes, regulations, and safety standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and AutoCAD (or equivalent)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass DOT drug testing.
