Key responsibilities & impact

Assist in developing and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code with guidance
Collaborate with developers, product managers, and designers on real features
Participate in code reviews to learn best practices and improve skills
Help troubleshoot and fix bugs in live systems
Learn how financial technology products scale and evolve over time
Potentially explore Customer Communication, Identity, Decisions, or Portfolio Management engineering focus areas
Work with the engineering team during a May–August 2027 internship at 40 hours per week

Requirements

What you’ll need

Incoming junior or senior currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Familiarity with Ruby on Rails or willingness to learn
Basic understanding of programming concepts and object-oriented design
Exposure to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL is a plus
Some experience using Git or other version control systems
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and working in a team
Exposure to test-driven development (TDD) is a plus
Familiarity with Agile development methods is a plus
Understanding of RESTful APIs is a plus
Interest in financial technology and consumer finance
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future visa sponsorship
Candidates must be local to Chicago or able to relocate independently; relocation assistance is not provided
