About the role

  • The Designer is responsible for design and drafting services that meet the utility client’s requirements and expectations while conforming to appropriate Codes and Standards for the associated project.
  • Detailed designs and drawings include:
  • - Substation Layouts
  • - Wiring Diagrams
  • - Power & Electrical Distribution
  • - Electrical One-Line Diagrams
  • - Schematics
  • - Interconnection diagrams
  • - Plans-Lighting, Grounding, Power, Heat Tracing, etc.
  • - Conduit/Cable Schedules
  • - Electrical Details
  • The Designer should be aware that the design process includes visiting clients’ facilities and performing physical work such as walking, standing, climbing ladders and lifting.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical, required
  • 3-5 years of substation electrical design/drafting experience & skilled in standard drafting practices
  • Knowledge of or proficient in field investigations and measurements
  • Familiarity with utility and client-specific standards
  • Working knowledge of or familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Strong attention to detail and performing self-checking of work
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to travel to client sites as needed
