About the role
- The Designer is responsible for design and drafting services that meet the utility client’s requirements and expectations while conforming to appropriate Codes and Standards for the associated project.
- Detailed designs and drawings include:
- - Substation Layouts
- - Wiring Diagrams
- - Power & Electrical Distribution
- - Electrical One-Line Diagrams
- - Schematics
- - Interconnection diagrams
- - Plans-Lighting, Grounding, Power, Heat Tracing, etc.
- - Conduit/Cable Schedules
- - Electrical Details
- The Designer should be aware that the design process includes visiting clients’ facilities and performing physical work such as walking, standing, climbing ladders and lifting.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent
- Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical, required
- 3-5 years of substation electrical design/drafting experience & skilled in standard drafting practices
- Knowledge of or proficient in field investigations and measurements
- Familiarity with utility and client-specific standards
- Working knowledge of or familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- Strong attention to detail and performing self-checking of work
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to travel to client sites as needed
