About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage payroll, benefits administration, and HR reporting for employees and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with California employment laws and maintain accurate HR records and documentation.
- Lead onboarding and offboarding processes for employees and contractors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for HR systems, vendors, and external partners.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates.
- Partner with leadership to ensure fair, consistent people practices and support organizational growth.
- Support employee relations matters, including performance management, investigations, issue resolution, and sensitive employee concerns.
- Coordinate workforce planning, compensation reviews, role leveling, and internal promotions.
- Facilitate training, compliance programs, and HR education initiatives.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and values-driven workplace culture.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- 5+ years of HR experience, ideally within small to mid-sized companies (40–100 employees)
- Strong working knowledge of California labor laws and HR compliance requirements
- Experience managing payroll, benefits, 401(k), and contractor vs. Employee classification
- Hands-on experience building or refining HR policies, procedures, and infrastructure
