About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage payroll, benefits administration, and HR reporting for employees and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with California employment laws and maintain accurate HR records and documentation.
  • Lead onboarding and offboarding processes for employees and contractors.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HR systems, vendors, and external partners.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure fair, consistent people practices and support organizational growth.
  • Support employee relations matters, including performance management, investigations, issue resolution, and sensitive employee concerns.
  • Coordinate workforce planning, compensation reviews, role leveling, and internal promotions.
  • Facilitate training, compliance programs, and HR education initiatives.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and values-driven workplace culture.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • 5+ years of HR experience, ideally within small to mid-sized companies (40–100 employees)
  • Strong working knowledge of California labor laws and HR compliance requirements
  • Experience managing payroll, benefits, 401(k), and contractor vs. Employee classification
  • Hands-on experience building or refining HR policies, procedures, and infrastructure
