About the role
- You will grow the audience on the brands’ websites, drive digital subscriptions, help reporters cater to our loyal audience, and ensure our newsletters are of a high standard.
- You will work alongside the rest of the newsdesk editors, motivating, mentoring and developing the reporting team.
- You will help run the day-to-day news agenda, planning, investigations and campaigns.
- You will also lead the content mix for the two printed daily newspapers.
- When other editors are away, you will step up and fulfil those duties.
Requirements
- We are looking for a creative, digitally savvy operator who understands the needs of a modern newsroom and wants to help deliver the best stories to our audience.
- The ideal candidates would already be working on a news desk or be experienced senior reporters looking for the next step up.
- You will have an excellent knowledge of media law and will be comfortable dealing with members of the public.
- You may often write your own articles as well.
- Be able to inspire a team

- Be creative and full of ideas
- Write articles when needed
- Create the right mix of content, for the right time of day and platform – online and in print
- Be able to process and edit copy for both print and online
- Place copy on pages for the newspapers
