About the role
- Build strategic relationships with Mid-Market and Large Group (over 250+ lives) clients and carrier partners
- Manage Mid-Market client project plans and lead client calls; serve as the primary contact for clients
- Support Benefit Consultant and Sr. Benefit Consultant on Mid-Market client accounts and lead standard accounts with minimal guidance
- Demonstrate proficiency in explaining technical analysis for plan renewal, marketing, budgeting, contribution scenarios and demographic analysis
- Create client meeting deliverables and actively participate in meetings
- Lead and manage the annual client calendar including strategic planning, renewal and marketing processes
- Attend and conduct client meetings, including renewal and open enrollment
- Manage escalated and complex client issues with minimal guidance
- Manage product and carrier implementations
- Coordinate management of client technology solutions alongside EB Systems and maintain basic EDI knowledge
- Develop and deliver communication strategies for clients and stay abreast of compliance and benefit trends
- Review and oversee outsourced tasks and conduct final review to ensure accuracy of compliance deliverables (5500s, SPD Wraps, annual notices, ACA)
- Salaried, exempt, full-time role reporting to Manager, Client Services; US Hybrid-role based in Irvine, CA (Pacific Time Zone)
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of employee benefits experience in Mid-Market and Large Group
- 5+ years of Employee Benefits experience in a brokerage setting with Mid-Market and Large Group Clients (California-based clients a plus)
- Exceptional communication skills: written, public speaking and presentation preparation
- Outstanding customer service skills, diplomacy, professionalism, and tact
- Ability to analyze data and adopt new technology systems and software applications
- Resourceful, takes initiative, solves problems, offers solutions, and makes process improvements
- Ability to train, delegate, provide oversight and give feedback
- Adaptability and flexibility to proactively address issues and client needs
- Ability to multi-task, understand urgency and work with changing priorities and deadlines
- Skilled at strategic project planning including extended time management
- Ability to forge relationships and build trust with clients, carriers, and internal stakeholders
- Independently manage accounts and support complex accounts with minimal guidance
- Deep understanding of insurance industry knowledge
- CA Department of Insurance Life License (required)
- Pacific Time Zone work hours required; seasonal or intermittent travel to visit clients
