About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee administration of the College of Arts & Science curriculum under the direction of the Dean
- Build trusted partnerships with faculty and department leaders and facilitate consensus around college-wide academic priorities
- Advise and collaborate with faculty to develop proposals for seminars, programs, and minor or major tracks
- Oversee CAS and Provost collaborations on special curriculum for cross-school and global initiatives, including portal campuses and global site engagement
- Supervise development and expansion of global curricular pathways in the NYU global network
- Serve as the primary staff person overseeing CAS academic policies related to accreditation and New York State Department of Education regulations
- Partner with academic departments and programs on strategies to improve retention, student success, and time to degree
- Oversee CAS assessment activities relating to curriculum planning, enrollment trends, and outcomes measures
- Implement outcomes assessment measures and help departments plan curricula enabling timely degree completion
- Utilize innovative course plans, including online and other curriculum planning strategies
- Promote curricular innovation and enhancements across CAS
- Partner with faculty and departments on new courses, programs, and pedagogy
- Supervise staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Doctoral Degree required
- 10+ years relevant experience in academic planning, curriculum development, recruitment, admissions, student affairs, and managing budgets, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous staff supervision required
- Superior strategic planning, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills
- Ability to implement and evaluate programs and counsel students and faculty
- Ability to articulate policy to internal and external community members
- Detailed knowledge of academic practices
- Ability to build trusted relationships across diverse faculty constituencies
- Ability to facilitate complex academic conversations and navigate shared governance
- Ability to influence without relying on formal authority
- Ability to develop broad ownership around College-wide initiatives
- Doctoral Degree in a Liberal Arts subject preferred
- Senior-level higher education experience involving academic policy, curricular planning/innovation, and faculty engagement preferred
