About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Reporting to the Gale and Ira Drukier Dean of the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, the Chief Administrative and Business Officer serves as the senior administrative and financial management position that directs all facets and phases of strategic financial management, administrative management as well as risk mitigation.
  • Oversee planning, administrative policy formulation, and implementation of all operational aspects of the school’s financial strategic planning activities as well as business operations and management including but not limited to human resources, capital projects, facilities, information technology, quality assurance, and administrative services, liaising/partnering with appropriate functional units for subject matter expertise.
  • Provide leadership in the management of financial and budgetary matters for the school including strategic planning, financial analysis and reporting, and financial stewardship.
  • Represent the Dean in a decision-making capacity to the University's central administrative offices.
  • Ensure appropriate risk management framework to protect the university’s assets.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years’ progressively responsible experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated fiscal responsibility and comprehensive knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with complex strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing relationships and influencing outcomes.
  • Demonstrated creativity and effectiveness in a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated success in developing people and organizations.
  • Strong cost management experience.
  • Thorough working knowledge of finance, fund accounting, and financial reporting analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial plans; integrating multiple complex pieces of financial information to identify themes, trends, and issues.
  • Expertise in a highly regulated organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage costs and achieve financial results in line with a committed budget.
  • Well-developed managerial, decision-making, planning, organizational, problem-resolution and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage people on a day-to-day basis and inspire a high level of commitment and performance.
  • High-level strategic planning skills.
  • Visionary with ability to influence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt communication style to address the needs of individuals at all levels throughout the University.
  • Ability to negotiate skillfully with both internal and external constituents.
