About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervises employees of the section to ensure completion of all assigned tasks to New Flyer standards.
- Balances task assignments between section members to ensure deadlines are met.
- Completes Engineering design tasks to support production.
- Coordinates own tasks to ensure deadlines are met. Includes maintaining a task status and recording time spent on each task.
- Creates engineering designs to meet customer specifications and production requirements for manufacturability.
- Coordinates trial installations of designs to ensure customer expectations are met and ensure product reliability and verify component fit.
- Completes engineering drawings and release documentation in accordance with the Engineering procedures.
- Provides engineering support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service Support, Purchasing and other departments in all facilities as required.
- Interacts with vendors and customers on design related issues.
- Checks, and/or approves engineering documents as authorized.
- Perform annual employee performance reviews for the direct reports.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Registered Professional Engineer or Electrical Technology w/ min of 4 years’ experience or equivalent.
- Design related experience of a minimum of 4+ years.
- Design based knowledge related to advanced control systems and related hardware/software.
- Strong Unigraphics skills
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to motivate employees and train new employees.
- Ability to use MS Office, Word, Excel and advanced programming tools as needed for projects and position.
