About the role
- Design, implement, and manage robust Azure infrastructure solutions, including compute, networking, storage, and security components.
- Deploy and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as ARM, Bicep, Terraform, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Optimize infrastructure for performance, availability, and cost, ensuring alignment with the Microsoft Well-Architected Framework.
- Architect and implement end-to-end DR solutions leveraging Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, and DRaaS models.
- Define and enforce RTO/RPO objectives, failover/failback procedures, and test plans.
- Configure cross-region replication, paired-region resilience, and failover routing using Azure Traffic Manager and Front Door.
- Integrate ASR and Azure Backup with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Automation Accounts for proactive monitoring and alerting.
- Maintain and automate DR runbooks, documentation, and IaC repositories in Azure DevOps or Git.
- Lead DR drills, validation, and continuous improvement of DR processes.
- Implement governance, security, and compliance through Azure Policy, Blueprints, and RBAC.
- Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability management, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support advanced networking (hub-and-spoke, hybrid connectivity) and identity/access management (AAD, RBAC, AD sync, MFA).
- Automate deployments, patching, and monitoring using Azure DevOps, PowerShell, or Bash scripting.
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams for CI/CD and environment management.
- Drive observability improvements by ensuring comprehensive logging and telemetry.
- Lead real-time incident resolution, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and participate in on-call rotation.
- Provide escalation support during DR events and critical incidents.
- Document recurring issues and resolutions, contributing to a shared knowledge base.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years in enterprise-level Azure infrastructure engineering, with at least 2 years focused on DR/ASR solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification is mandatory (if you do not currently have one, you will need to go thru one).
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent preferred.
- Deep expertise in Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, and DRaaS.
- Advanced proficiency in Terraform, ARM/Bicep templates, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Azure CLI).
- Hands-on experience with Azure networking, security, and monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
- Experience with hybrid cloud DR (on-prem to Azure) is a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, globally distributed team.
