About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Ensure work is performed according to safety policies and procedures
Review and ensure correct PPE is available and used properly
Create PLOTO and LOTO switch plans for approval
Lead pre-job briefs, job safety analyses, personal LOTO, and switch-plan LOTO
Lead comprehensive inspections of solar power plants
Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs
Supervise and train junior technicians on inspection and maintenance procedures
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex system issues, including grid integration and communication problems
Use advanced diagnostic tools and software to address system performance issues
Develop and implement corrective action plans
Create and maintain documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs
Prepare technical reports and presentations for management
Oversee work-order documentation and provide direction to junior technicians
Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians
Contribute to training materials and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

2–4 years of experience in the solar industry or a related electrical field
Associate's degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred
OSHA 30-hour certification
NFPA 70e certification
FAA Part 107 certification or proficiency operating drones for aerial thermographic purposes
Proficient knowledge of electrical systems, solar energy technologies, and grid-tied systems
Proficiency with I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and isolation testers
Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and engineering drawings
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior technicians in the field
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to drive confidently and safely
Ability to stand for long periods and walk up to three miles per day
Ability to navigate ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps while maintaining three points of contact
Visual acuity for depth perception, no field-of-vision issues, and ability to distinguish colors
Comfort working in extreme heat above 100°F or extreme cold below 32°F for periods exceeding one hour
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly
Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable
