About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Take field experience to the next level, conducting advanced inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Operate safely in high-voltage environments without direct supervision.
  • Guide junior technicians on-site and follow a defined development pathway to advancement.
  • Conduct comprehensive electrical and mechanical inspections of solar energy systems.
  • Perform advanced preventative maintenance tasks like infrared thermography, insulation resistance testing, and I/V curve tracing.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system and operational issues independently.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections and repairs with minimal oversight.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies while sharing knowledge with junior technicians.
  • Assist team members and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the solar industry or a related electrical field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of electrical systems, solar energy principles, and grid-tied systems.
  • Familiar with using specialized diagnostic tools such as I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and Isolation testers.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • FAA Part 107 Certification (and familiarity operating drones for aerial thermographic purposes).
  • OSHA 30-hour and NFPA 70e certifications are preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
