About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Take field experience to the next level, conducting advanced inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Operate safely in high-voltage environments without direct supervision.
- Guide junior technicians on-site and follow a defined development pathway to advancement.
- Conduct comprehensive electrical and mechanical inspections of solar energy systems.
- Perform advanced preventative maintenance tasks like infrared thermography, insulation resistance testing, and I/V curve tracing.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system and operational issues independently.
- Maintain accurate documentation of inspections and repairs with minimal oversight.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies while sharing knowledge with junior technicians.
- Assist team members and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the solar industry or a related electrical field.
- Demonstrated understanding of electrical systems, solar energy principles, and grid-tied systems.
- Familiar with using specialized diagnostic tools such as I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and Isolation testers.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- FAA Part 107 Certification (and familiarity operating drones for aerial thermographic purposes).
- OSHA 30-hour and NFPA 70e certifications are preferred.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
