About the role
- Contributes to the strategic direction and execution of high-impact, outcomes-focused learning and development initiatives for our commercial teams
- Responsible for designing, implementing, and managing pilot projects and new initiatives through the use of new training tools or advanced training programs to deepen sales team knowledge and effectiveness and drive results
- Partners closely with senior commercial and divisional sales leadership to assess field sales capabilities and recommend training methodologies to deepen and enhance employee engagement and accelerate the growth of technical, professional, and leadership skills for individual contributors, teams, and leaders in the commercial organization
- Lead FDM team efforts to assess training, learning, and development needs for the sales teams as well as alternative methods of delivering training and new approaches, practices and processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of training (including distance-learning, e-learning, learning portals)
- Lead measurement and outcomes evaluation for the various ongoing FDM initiatives/projects
- Develop and communicate needs and strategies identified to appropriate stakeholders to gain alignment and determine path forward
- Create and help deliver executive summaries to communicate results and findings with cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership
- Develop and facilitate advanced training through microlearning, electives, workshops, and personalized coaching, in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders
- Lead the RFT Team's talent lifecycle from selection through development, implementing the "RFT Lift Off" curriculum and providing ongoing mentorship
- Lead creation, intake, and archiving of RFT feedback forms
- Partner with Field Operations to support Sales Operating Systems Liaisons (SOSLs)
- Lead Train-the-Trainer (TTT) sessions and develop Plan-of-Action/National Sales Meeting content
- Support comprehensive onboarding across all phases: home study preparation (Phase I/IB), live training (Phase II), and field-based training and fast-start mentoring (Phase III)
- Lead contact for RFT/RSM support during Phase I/IB and Phase II new hire onboarding
- Coordinate RFT support for Phase III/Fast Start calls
- Partner with Field Operations Manager on SOSL support needed for Phase II and to design and deliver Phase III virtual training day
- Lead the Field Development Manager Partnership Program (FDMPP) for Account Specialists, including nomination process, competency assessments, and targeted development
- Prepare executive summaries to deliver to field sales leadership and cross-functional stakeholders on key FDM initiatives like FDMPP
- Support Leadership Development initiatives (LEAD program, Peer Leader Summit) for first-line and emerging leaders
- Collaborate with Sales Directors and Commercial Effectiveness teams to address zone/division-level training needs
- Manage external vendors and internal specialists for field development programs
Requirements
- BS/BA in relevant subject area required and 8+ years of relevant work experience required
- 3-5 years of pharmaceutical sales experience required
- At least 1 year of internal or field based sales/field training in pharmaceuticals highly preferred
- Sales leadership experience a plus OR Master's Degree in relevant area and 6+ years similar experience noted above
- Strong emotional intelligence and relationship building skills
- Ability to teach, develop, and coach others with a wide variety of learning needs and styles
- Highly motivated, self-leader with a growth mindset and a passion for learning and development and for training, mentoring, coaching, developing others
- Ability to assess learning and development needs and design creative, innovative training and solutions to meet those needs
