About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits and track upcoming coverage expiration
  • Complete initial and ongoing benefit verification at least two times monthly
  • Maintain up-to-date authorizations and submissions for ABA patients
  • Support families with continuation of insurance coverage through resources and outreach
  • Secure required authorizations before services are rendered and maintain them ongoing
  • Track and submit authorization paperwork and review clinical documentation before submission
  • Enter authorizations into the patient electronic medical records system
  • Resolve authorization issues with patients, providers, internal teams, and insurance companies
  • Maintain accurate authorization request and response records
  • Stay current on insurance coding and billing guidelines for ABA services
  • Update workflow templates with status notes, approvals, and pertinent information
  • Send, collect, and maintain updated patient consents
  • Assist with requesting, receiving, and sharing documents between families and the organization
  • Update and audit Central Reach profiles
  • Assist the RCM team with clean-claim audits and issue resolution
  • Assist RCM, Operations, and Clinical teams with audits and administrative tasks
  • Follow NeurAbilities policies, procedures, and applicable regulations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field; or 1+ years’ relevant experience in a healthcare environment
  • 1+ years’ experience within a business operations environment
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and insurance billing procedures for ABA services
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Knowledge of medical and/or behavioral health terminology
  • Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA practices and adherence to policies
  • Ability to organize and synthesize information from multiple sources
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information professionally in compliance with HIPAA
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems with minimal assistance
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to respond appropriately to internal and external customer needs
  • Ability to work with diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Ability to stay organized while handling calls, documentation, and insurance verification
  • Estimated 10% local travel; occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected
  • Ability to perform light-medium physical activity and extensive self-positioning
