About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and ship Android features and infrastructure used directly by members or by other Netflix engineers
Write clean, testable, well-documented code backed by automated tests, including JVM unit and Espresso tests
Partner with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to scope work and weigh trade-offs
Monitor modern Android tooling and practices and help modernize the codebase
Use GenAI tools in day-to-day development and explore agentic workflows
Communicate proactively with team members and stakeholders, applying project management and estimation skills
Own projects end to end, including scoping, building, and shipping

Requirements

What you’ll need

Solid understanding of Android development, with the ability to pick up new frameworks and paradigms quickly
Strong coding skills in Kotlin (Java a plus), and comfort navigating adjacent stacks like GraphQL
A track record of shipping real features
Ability to weigh trade-offs and make decisions with incomplete information
Experience with Jetpack Compose, Circuit, Dagger/Hilt, or GraphQL (nice to have)
Experience building or maintaining SDKs, developer tooling, or shared client frameworks (nice to have)
Familiarity with high-scale or real-time systems such as live streaming, ads, or playback (nice to have)
