About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and ship Android features and infrastructure used directly by members or by other Netflix engineers
  • Write clean, testable, well-documented code backed by automated tests, including JVM unit and Espresso tests
  • Partner with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to scope work and weigh trade-offs
  • Monitor modern Android tooling and practices and help modernize the codebase
  • Use GenAI tools in day-to-day development and explore agentic workflows
  • Communicate proactively with team members and stakeholders, applying project management and estimation skills
  • Own projects end to end, including scoping, building, and shipping

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Solid understanding of Android development, with the ability to pick up new frameworks and paradigms quickly
  • Strong coding skills in Kotlin (Java a plus), and comfort navigating adjacent stacks like GraphQL
  • A track record of shipping real features
  • Ability to weigh trade-offs and make decisions with incomplete information
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose, Circuit, Dagger/Hilt, or GraphQL (nice to have)
  • Experience building or maintaining SDKs, developer tooling, or shared client frameworks (nice to have)
  • Familiarity with high-scale or real-time systems such as live streaming, ads, or playback (nice to have)
