About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and ship Android features and infrastructure for Netflix members and engineers
  • Write clean, testable, and well-documented code backed by automated JVM unit, Espresso, and similar tests
  • Partner with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to scope work and weigh trade-offs
  • Monitor modern Android tooling and practices and help modernize the codebase
  • Use GenAI tools in day-to-day development and explore agentic workflows
  • Communicate proactively with team members and stakeholders, including project management and estimation
  • Own projects end to end, including scoping, building, and shipping
  • Contribute to SDUI architecture and tooling, ad frameworks, SDKs, developer tooling, or shared client frameworks depending on team placement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Solid understanding of Android development
  • Strong coding skills in Kotlin; Java is a plus
  • Comfort navigating adjacent stacks such as GraphQL
  • Ability to pick up new frameworks and paradigms quickly
  • Track record of shipping real product features
  • Ability to own projects end to end, including scoping, building, and shipping
  • Ability to weigh trade-offs and make decisions with incomplete information
  • Clear communication and relationship-building across teams
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose, Circuit, Dagger/Hilt, or GraphQL is nice to have
  • Experience building or maintaining SDKs, developer tooling, or shared client frameworks is nice to have
  • Familiarity with high-scale or real-time systems such as live streaming, ads, or playback is nice to have
