About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and maintain the target architecture for HR technology across domains
  • Develop a multi-year architecture roadmap for HR systems, integrations, and data models
  • Determine boundaries between third-party platforms and first-party services
  • Establish guardrails for configuration, customization, and first-party extensions
  • Establish standard patterns for HR data models, integrations, identity, entitlements, and access control
  • Deliver out-of-the-box solutions and reusable templates
  • Lead the architecture of foundational HR systems and horizontal sources of truth
  • Define golden sources for HR entities and data lineage into analytics, Finance, Security, and other consumers
  • Embed security, privacy, regulatory, data residency, cross-border transfer, role-based access, and least-privilege requirements into architecture
  • Partner with Security, Privacy, and Legal on repeatable technical patterns
  • Engage Talent and cross-functional partners to understand processes, pain points, and risks
  • Translate business outcomes into sustainable and maintainable solution architectures
  • Provide architectural direction to engineering teams building first-party services and integrations
  • Review solution designs against target architecture
  • Represent HR architecture to third-party vendors and partners
  • Evaluate and challenge vendor proposals when necessary
  • Document architectural trade-offs and decisions
  • Identify redundant tools, platforms, and integrations
  • Propose and lead decommissioning efforts
  • Reduce complexity, improve reliability, and lower total cost of ownership across HR technology

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8–12+ years in enterprise engineering or architecture roles
  • Significant experience as a Solutions, HR Tech, or ERP architect, or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience architecting ecosystems with multiple third-party HR systems and custom first-party services
  • Deep understanding of at least one major HCM or HR suite, such as Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or Oracle HCM
  • Experience with integrations and extension patterns
  • Understanding of modern integration patterns and data modeling for people/HR domains
  • Understanding of security, privacy, and compliance expectations around employee data
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a horizontal architect serving multiple teams
  • Ability to influence and challenge senior HR, engineering, and vendor stakeholders with clear, data-driven arguments
  • Ability to make non-obvious architectural trade-offs and live with the consequences
