About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage existing assets – Planned Maintenance: Actively participate in maintenance routines to ensure activities are scheduled and executed on time and to the required quality standards.
  • Support and participate in the implementation of maintenance methodologies, including Preventative Maintenance pillar foundations.
  • Master and coach breakdown analysis to improve reliability and reduce recurring failures.
  • Ensure effective utilisation of the Asset Maintenance Management system.
  • Drive line reliability by reducing breakdowns, stop-start issues and recurring technical inefficiencies.
  • Manage existing assets – Budget Management: Provide input into the annual maintenance budget and support reporting and tracking of maintenance spend.
  • Analyse over/under-spend in the area of responsibility and propose corrective actions.
  • Deliver optimal maintenance outcomes while managing cost and resource priorities effectively.
  • Build Engineering Capability: Support and participate in the competence building plan for the maintenance team.
  • Build maintenance methodology competencies within Engineering in line with the roles and responsibilities matrix.
  • Assist with technical training programmes for factory maintenance staff.
  • Build Asset Maintenance Management competencies within Engineering.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary support across mechanical, electrical and automation resources.
  • Manage existing assets – Production Support: Support the implementation of Asset Maintenance pillar methodologies.
  • Support production teams to eliminate quality defects, safety risks and chronic technical issues.
  • Troubleshoot with the team to ensure all aspects of the line deliver the required output.
  • Lead initiatives to improve line efficiency, equipment speed and overall performance.
  • Define and adhere to standards: Support and participate in the implementation of applicable standards.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable standards within the area of responsibility.
  • Support long-term asset reliability through critical spares planning, redundancy thinking and sustainable maintenance practices.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Engineering Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in engineering management, maintenance, industrial services or Engineering & Automation, preferably within an FMCG or food processing manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in plant maintenance, machinery and processing equipment, and packaging equipment.
  • Experience with high-speed filling lines, can-filling technology, filling and packing lines, evaporation and homogenisation technology will be advantageous.
  • At least 2 years’ leadership experience or proven experience leading maintenance teams will be advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance methodology and Asset Maintenance.
  • Good knowledge of Asset Maintenance Management systems, preferably SAP PM module.
  • Experience working in multifunctional teams, for example capital projects or DMAIC, will be advantageous.
  • Experience in project management, execution, budget control and engineering procurement control.
  • Strong troubleshooting, breakdown analysis, reliability improvement and continuous improvement capability.
  • Energetic, ambitious and self-driven individual with strong ownership, collaboration and the ability to lead with autonomy.
