About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for systems administration, infrastructure updates, storage and compute capacity optimization, and ensuring the ongoing reliability of the platform.
  • Manage users, groups, permissions, system services, and resource allocation;
  • Perform operating system hardening, apply patches, remediate vulnerabilities, and manage system lifecycle;
  • Troubleshoot system, storage, network, and performance issues in production environments;
  • Install, configure, and support Posit Workbench (RStudio Workbench) on Linux;
  • Manage R and Python runtime environments, including multiple versions and virtual environments (e.g., venv, conda);
  • Ensure reproducible, validated, and consistent analytical workflows across environments;
  • Integrate Linux platforms with Azure Blob Storage and ADLS Gen2;
  • Configure secure access using SAS tokens and lifecycle policies;
  • Perform data transfers using azcopy;
  • Mount cloud storage using NFS or FUSE, where applicable;
  • Configure and maintain connectivity to Snowflake, including ODBC/JDBC drivers on Linux;
  • Create and manage Docker containers to support reproducible analytical and scientific workloads;
  • Provision and manage Linux environments using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep;
  • Automate configuration management and operational tasks using Ansible;
  • Implement monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor, Prometheus, and Grafana;
  • Operate Linux platforms in GxP or regulated environments;
  • Support change control, validation activities, and participate in audits and compliance assessments;
  • Manage SSL/TLS certificates, secure communications, and proxy configuration.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology/Systems, Business Administration, Economics, Applied Mathematics for Business, or a related field will be considered;
  • Advanced English required;
  • Experience administering Linux systems (RHEL / CentOS / Ubuntu): hands-on experience in production environments;
  • Azure Virtual Machines: provisioning, resizing, disk management (Premium SSDs, managed disks, LVM);
  • Storage administration: disk configuration, mount points, filesystem management, and performance tuning;
  • User and session management: multi-user environments, SSH, PAM, resource limits (cgroups);
  • Package and dependency management: yum/dnf, pip, conda; resolving library and version conflicts;
  • Bash scripting and command-line troubleshooting;
  • Basic networking knowledge: NSGs, firewalls, DNS, connectivity to Azure PaaS services (Blob Storage, ADLS Gen2).
