About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the infrastructure, deployment automation, and security posture of Velocity, Nelnet's cloud-native loan servicing platform
- Monitor and support all installed systems and infrastructure
- Evaluate system performance, identify bottlenecks, develop solutions, and implement changes through change management
- Design, implement, and monitor secure, fault-tolerant enterprise infrastructure
- Define and evolve Build & Release best practices supporting traceability and auditability
- Ensure continuous availability of DevOps tools for source control, continuous integration, and change management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on scalable features that improve developer productivity, environment monitoring, self-healing, and autonomous delivery
- Build infrastructure automation tools and frameworks
- Integrate applications into cloud environments
- Automate scalable, secure, and reliable deployment pipelines
- Use application monitoring tools to troubleshoot and diagnose environment issues
- Automate repetitive work
- Collaborate with Cloud Infrastructure and Security teams to follow organizational best practices, policies, and procedures
- Automate security controls
- Define problems, propose approaches, socialize them with architecture and delivery teams, and implement solutions
- Set technical standards and raise the technical capability of other engineers
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1-3+ years of experience with AWS DevOps, cloud architecture, networking, deployment processes, and infrastructure as code tools
- Experience solving complex problems, creating algorithms, and working through challenging requirements
- Experience creating software in an agile, iterative environment
- Experience with source control (Git, branching, merging, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented and critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to coach, mentor, and teach team members
- Ability to handle a dynamic work environment
- Effective organization and time management skills
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
- Knowledge in Federal Government NIST compliance preferred
- External candidates must reside within a 30-mile radius of Centennial, CO; Lincoln, NE; or Madison, WI
- Must already be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
