Key responsibilities & impact

Enhance the compliance and consumer protection environment through interpretation and implementation of laws
Collaborate with the Chief Compliance Officer and team members
Develop creative solutions for compliance and strategic objectives
Review and approve marketing materials for compliance
Manage implementation of regulatory guidance and report status
Provide internal support on compliance issues
Participate in project teams for compliance procedure development
Coordinate with Legal Services and Government Relations
Communicate compliance positions to government agencies
Represent Nelnet in industry associations

Requirements

What you’ll need

Four-year degree required
Juris Doctorate degree required
Knowledge of Nelnet’s internal operational systems and procedures preferred but not required
Ability to be assertive and resilient in ambiguous and controversial situations
Strong understanding of consumer protection laws, including: Regulation B, Regulation Z, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Electronic Signatures Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, Unfair, Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices
