About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, verify, validate, and deploy physics-based algorithms for laser measurement systems
- Contribute to new product capabilities and research breakthroughs that improve member outcomes
- Collaborate with optical engineers, hardware developers, and clinical researchers
- Bridge physical sensor behaviour and production software in Neko Health clinics and products
- Deliver production-quality code and integrate physics-aware algorithms into backend infrastructure
- Design and execute calibration, validation, and noise-characterisation methodologies
- Ensure measurement science meets metrological and clinical standards
- Mentor and collaborate within a multidisciplinary Data Science and Algorithm team
- Work in cross-functional project teams and present progress, failures, or hacks at bi-weekly engineering demos
Requirements
What you’ll need- MSc or PhD in Physics, Optical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of relevant industry experience, or 5+ years post-PhD
- Deep knowledge of physics-based modelling and simulation
- Ability to translate optical, acoustic, or electromagnetic physical systems into code from first principles
- Experience with laser-based measurement techniques such as laser speckle, doppler, OCT, interferometry, lidar FMCW, spectroscopy, or related fields
- Strong software engineering skills
- Proven experience shipping algorithms to production
- Experience characterising sensors, building calibration pipelines, and validating measurements against ground truth
- Motivation to apply rigorous measurement science to preventative healthcare
- Preferred: experience in clinical or regulated environments and understanding of medical-device algorithm regulatory requirements
- Preferred: experience in med-tech, biophotonics, metrology, or sensor-driven R&D
- Preferred: demonstrated success mentoring engineers or researchers in high-growth, mission-driven organisations
